The French language is for sure one of the most interesting languages out there, with its extensive past and history. Originating from a mixture of Romanised Germanic and Celtic origin words, the true origin of the French language derives from Latin itself.
French Speaking Countries
French is the official language spoken in these nations: Belgium, Benin, Burkina, Burundi, Cameroon, Canada, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Democratic republic of Congo, Cote d’Ivoire, Djibouti, France, Gabon, Guinea, Haiti, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Mali, Monaco, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Togo, Vanuatu and Vietnam.
Learning French
French is different to English as it is a gender-based language. This factor makes it considerably harder to learn the language and grasping this is key to becoming fluent.
Not to discourage anyone that was planning to learn French in the future. On the bright side, French is one of most widely spoken languages in the world. On top of this, it is expressive and classified as a romance language. It is known across the worlds as the language of love.
To Conclude
My experience with the French language is definitely a positive one! As a Spanish speaker French has an abundance of cognate words and similar phrase styles. This helps someone that understands languages such as Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, which are all gendered languages, to pick up French easier. My suggestion is to give French a go, it is an extra language to add to the répertoire and it sure can open doors for you due to the amount of people that actually speak it and the excellent reputation France and French culture has worldwide.
