Send Your Project Viral with the Help of the UK’s Leading Italian Subtitling Company.

Subtitles occur on the screen as text in reaction to the characters’ speech or dialogue. They are typically used to transform media into a language that the audience can comprehend. If subtitles are not accurate to the spoken word on screen, the viewers’ understanding of the content can be negatively impacted. Precisely created subtitles, on the other hand, enhance the value of your video content.

That’s why we have professional linguists in place to create subtitles for your film or other video content. Our team consists of both local and foreign resources to ensure that every uttered word in another language is correctly translated.

Italian Language Facts

Italian is a Romance language spoken by 62 million people in Italy, Switzerland, San Marino, Vatican City, by minorities in Malta, Monaco, Croatia, Slovenia, France, Libya and Eritrea, and by immigrant communities in the Americas and Australia. This is one of the most spoken European Languages.

Many native speakers are native bilinguals of both standardised Italian and regional varieties. In Switzerland, Italian is one of four official languages, spoken mainly in the Swiss cantons of Grigioni and Ticino. It is also the official language of San Marino, as well as the primary language of Vatican City. It is co-official in Slovenian Istria and in part of the Istria County in Croatia. The Italian language adopted by the state after the unification of Italy is based on the Tuscan dialect, which beforehand was only available to upper class Florentine society. Its development was also influenced by other Italian dialects and by the Germanic language of the post-Roman invaders. Italian derives diachronically from Latin and is the closest national language to Latin. Unlike most other Romance languages, Italian retains Latin’s contrast between short and long consonants. As in most Romance languages, stress is distinctive. In particular, among the Romance languages, Italian is the closest to Latin in terms of vocabulary. Lexical similarity is 89% with French, 87% with Sardinian, 85% with Catalan, 82% with Spanish, 82% with Portuguese, 78% with Rhaeto-Romance, and 77% with Romanian. Written Italian > The first grammar of Italian with the Latin title Regule lingue florentine (Rules of the Florentine language) was produced by Leon Battista Alberti (1404-72) and published in 1495. During the 15th and 16th centuries both Latin and Italian were used for technical and scientific texts. The Italian used was full of Latin words and over time Latin was used less and less as Italian became increasingly popular. Today the Tuscan dialect is known as Italian (Italiano) and is the offical language of Italy. It is the main language of literature and the media. Each region of Italy also has its own dialect, some of which are so distinct from standard Italian that they are mutually unintelligible. The Sicilian dialect for example, is sometimes regarded as a separate language and has a literary tradition older than Italian itself.
