Here are some of the comments on the various aspects that we specialise in at GoLocalise:
What I like about the industry is working with people with all their different languages and cultures, from whom I learn something new every day. I also love seeing the results from my work and witnessing client satisfaction.
– Benedetta, Production Assistant
I realised that I wanted to transform my interest in translation into a career after I once spent an hour finding the best way to translate just two sentences from Spanish into English. I love how translation grants us the opportunity to transform one living language into another, to expand a message’s target audience exponentially.
– Ally, English Subtitling and Editing Assistant
Looking back, I don’t think I ever had that career ‘lightbulb’ moment many people experience: I’ve always known I wanted to become a translator and to work in this industry. What I love the most about this job? The constant intercultural exchange, the paramount need for creativity and the versatility of the AVT world. You can never get bored.
– Chiara, Junior Project Coordinator
I find it so interesting how different languages and cultures compare around the world. Directing and recording a voiceover in French is a completely different experience to then working on the same project in Chinese. Each language uses different forms and structures, which I find so interesting, but with this there are so many similarities and ‘borrowed’ words between the languages. This is most apparent in English, which seems to take flavours of so many dialects.
– Adrian, Sound Engineer
I love watching foreign films and found it very intriguing to understand how subtitles actually work (after hearing so many people complain that “that’s not what they said!”) I’m fascinated by the art of recreating dialogue within the constraints of subtitling which captures the essence of the original language.
– Helen, Production Supervisor.
Initially, I just loved learning languages and was interested in different cultures. Working in this field, I meet people from all over the world. It feels like going on a new adventure everyday!
– Margaux, Production Assistant.
